Embroidery threads and chart

Description

Lately i've been asked various times what type on embroidery thread I use for my machine and some advice I can give. The answer; I actually use a mix of various brands because one brand has more color shades than the other and sometimes you just need a very specific color. Madeira, Guttermann, Brother, Isacord, Mettler and Brildor will all do.

Brildor is a relatively new European brand that I really love and order the most. My machine seems to love this thread's texture and thickness a lot unlike some other brands. Their polyester thread has a really nice strong sheen and you pay very little for a large 1000 m spool. I have their extensive color chart so I'm always sure I'll pick the right color whenever I have to order.

For the bobbin thread I use Brother (for 2000-7000) only for my Brother Innov-is 2200

One word of advice: always use thread of a brand that is specialized in sewing- and embroidery thread! If you use one of those ultra cheap chinese embroidery threads you find on ebay you'll most likely wreck your machine. tg(no, I haven't tried it.) And definitely don't use regular sewing thread.

(Note: picture only shows 10 percent of my stock)
1. Brother 40 (Hard to come by here and limited color choice)
2. Brildor Polyester (low price for a lot of thread)
3. Madeira Rayon 40 (high price but has the largest color choice)
4. Mettler Polysheen (large color variety but sheen is 'meh' when used, small spools.
5. Guttermann Sulky (really nice sheen but small spools, limited color choice)
6. Brother bobbin thread

That's a seriously impressive range of colours, I never knew that thread could come in so many shades. :D
